Gray and white hair, a natural consequence of aging, has been linked to pigment cell death and melanin deficiency. While stress-induced graying has been observed in mice, evidence in humans has been lacking until a 2021. Utilizing a high-resolution scanning technique, researchers found correlations between stress cycles and shifts in hair pigmentation. Notably, hair color returned when stress decreased, offering insights into the malleability of human aging influenced by stress. The study suggests a potential for gray and white hairs to regain color, albeit within certain biological age thresholds.

Biocide-coated polymers to fight hospital superbugs
Researchers at the University of Nottingham have used a common disinfectant and antiseptic to create a new antimicrobial coating material that effectively kills bacteria and viruses, including MRSA and SARS-COV-2. The scientists coated the plastic polymer acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) with chlorhexidine, a disinfectant often used by dentists, to create an antimicrobial coating that can […]
Findings challenge conventional thinking by demonstrating that immune generatics, specifically HLA-II heterozygosity play a significant role in lung cancer risk, especially among smokers
Traditionally, HLA-II genes were primarily associated with the body’s immune response to infections by presenting foreign antigens to T cells. This study suggests their role might extend to influencing cancer risk, particularly lung cancer, which is a major departure from the established view. HLA-II Heterozygosity and Smokers: The finding that the protective effect of HLA-II […]
Cosmic Diamond: Astronomers Discover White Dwarf Star Undergoing Crystallization
Astronomers have discovered a white dwarf star just 104 light-years away that is undergoing a fascinating transformation into a “cosmic diamond.” The white dwarf, composed of carbon and metallic oxygen, is gradually crystallizing and becoming denser at its core. This discovery, detailed in a paper accepted into the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, […]
