The editorial urged health professionals to raise awareness about the danger to public health posed by nuclear weapons and called for the elimination of nuclear arsenals in nuclear-armed states. The use of even a limited number of nuclear weapons could have catastrophic consequences, potentially killing millions and leading to global climate disruption. The urgency of the current nuclear crisis is emphasized by this rare collaboration among medical journals.
