Rising unemployment, particularly among the young, has become a matter of concern for Jordan. As specified by the latest official statistics, the rising unemployment rates among university graduates hit 23 percent last year. The unemployment rate is asymmetrical in terms of gender: Almost 27 percent of unemployed university graduates are male, while almost 68 percent are female. The reason behind the unemployment is the mismatch between education outputs and the skills required by the labor market and the inability of both the private and government sector to provide jobs.
